Budgetting - Complete!

After a gruelling all day session in uni, the budgeting is done and we, the student artists working on Moving Tides, have now coordinated orders to reduce costs and delivery charges.

By the time I arrived at the budgeting session I had 3 pages of suppliers for various materials - which will be invaluable in later projects but thanks to the ten of us pooling our research we were able to find the best places with the best deals for us all.

All that's left to do for our budgets now is order our materials and get to work prototyping - and stick to our budgets! With the amount of silk habotai I have to order my budget is very tight but thanks to the wonderful people at silk craft giving me a 5% discount I have only gone £10 over my initial budget of £345.

The next stage is to begin lesson planning, which needs to be developed through prototyping. Until we know how long it is going to take to make the costumes ourselves, which parts of the costumes can be made by the students and which parts need to be made outside of the schools and brought in it wouldn't be possible to accurately write up a lesson plan. This means that now the main bulk of prototyping needs to begin in earnest!

I have worked out parts of my lesson plans already from my initial prototyping and budgeting alternatives, mainly due to the fact I will have the bulk of the class working on their masks while the seven who are in the giant slug will be working separately on their costume so it is making sure that everyone has something to do while not overloading anyone.

The main issue I can see in terms of costume making will be with the giant slug, and working out how to dip dye such a large amount of silk habotai evenly. Thankfully I have been approved to work on one of the long tables in the studio's at uni to mister spray the black down the centre and volunteers to help with the spraying which does make life easier.

Below is my budget breakdown;
